Acronis gets more involved in Apple business with Addigy partnership

This move reflects Acronis' continued sacrifices to provide tools that managed services vendors (MSPs) can use to embed their cyber protection solutions across the Apple ecosystem. The combination means that IT administrators can add enhanced security to their devices through a single console.

A new ecosystem needs a new protection

We know that enterprise Mac deployment continues to increase. Jamf CEO Dean Hager noted this week that his company, another Apple management reseller, now serves multiple customers of the service who have added more than XNUMX zero units of Apple equipment into their business. His company also claimed that XNUMX% of employees would take a pay cut or change jobs to use the platform they wanted, and XNUMX% of them would choose Apple when they could. Acronis and Jamf announced a similar integration earlier this year. Addigy also highlights the growing adoption of Macs, stating that "at least fifty-five percent" of SMBs now accept Macs in their businesses.

New threats too

The increased prevalence of Apple systems in business means that criminals, states, and nasty surveillance companies are doing everything in their power to break the security of Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Jan-Jaap "JJ" Jager, Acronis Board Director and Chief Revenue Officer, warned in the statement: "Cybercriminals are already responding to this changing landscape and are stepping up their attacks on Apple devices." In recent months we have seen certain examples. NSO Group's sinister Pegasus virus joins a range of smaller and larger exploits, some of which Apple has described as being in use. Although most of the time the cost and difficulty of successfully developing exploits against the platform require large investments, and those sacrifices are usually directed at people, the value of commercial data means that service providers who they work with or in corporate IT must maintain relentless vigilance. And credible threats have been identified. More than XNUMX different pieces of malware have damaged as many as XNUMX Macs, Apple's chief software engineer Craig Federighi said earlier this year. A recent Atlas VPN survey found that XNUMX new malware samples were identified in XNUMX, up from XNUMX and XNUMX in XNUMX. Cyberattacks are expected to cost the planet €XNUMX billion a year by XNUMX.

Protect your business

Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud has multiple features that help keep organizations safe, even when attack nodes are far beyond traditional permissions security protection. Not only can settings be applied remotely through standard macOS enrollment tools, but security can be customized for different clients of the service. The latter element means that service providers using Addigy tools to support multiple SMBs can incorporate the most relevant protections for each user, rather than being locked into one model. Acronis integrates with many service providers, including Addigy and Jamf. Datto, CloudBlue, Matrix42, Connectwise and many other widely incorporated apps and services work with this software. We'll likely learn more about Acronis and its plans to integrate with the developing industry around Apple-focused security and protection next week, when the company kicks off its annual CyberFit summit. Apple, meanwhile, works to promote good security practices in global supply chains.
