Where is the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3? It's been more than a year since the Watch Active 2, and we thought a successor would be here now, but perhaps the company isn't releasing its watches on annual cycles like Apple does for the Apple Watch.
We thought the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 would launch at Samsung Unpacked 2020 in August, but the smartwatch was the Galaxy Watch 3, making it the wearable device that the company currently offers.
Various things and rumors have been leaked about the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3, which you can find below, along with more specific information on the likely release date.
Based on current leaks, it appears that the Galaxy Watch Active 3 could be visibly similar to its predecessor, but with significantly improved internals, which could be enough to make it one of the most exciting smartwatches out there. anus.
But there's a lot we don't know yet, so we've also included a list of everything we want from the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 was just a minor update. from its predecessor, so we want big changes here.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 release date and price
It's unclear exactly when the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 will land. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was announced in August 2019, so with many wearable devices having an annual release cycle, August 2020 would be a reasonable estimate. This, as you can probably understand, never happened.
Samsung's next event is the launch of the Galaxy S21 on January 14, 2020. We might see a new smartwatch then, but usually rumors mention this kind of thing, and we haven't heard anything about the Galaxy Watch Active 3 in come.

However, there is evidence that a new smartwatch from Samsung is coming soon, as wearable devices with model numbers associated with such a device have recently been certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT). .
Said certification basically confirms the existence of the device and usually happens quite close to the launch, so if we had to guess we would say that the end of 2020 would be the last, we would see the next Samsung smartwatch, and there is very likely that we will see it before .
But while these model numbers are almost certainly for a smartwatch (they are SM-R840 and SM-R850, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, for example, has the model number SM-R830), we don't know the Name. of the device they belong to, and there are rumors that Samsung is working on a Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, which should land first or instead.
Similar model numbers of SM-R845 and SM-R855 were also certified, this time by the FCC in the United States, and this time they came with the text "Samsung Galaxy Watch", although that did not make it to us. I still don't say if we are looking at Watch 2 or Watch Active 3.
As for the price, there are no rumors about it yet, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 had a starting price of € 279.99 / € 269 / AU € 549, so we expect the Watch Active 3 to be at least the same, except for such Once in Australia, you didn't get the smaller (and therefore cheaper) version of the Watch Active 2, but you could get the smaller Galaxy Watch Active 3.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 news and leaks
There aren't many Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 leaks yet, but a possible FCC listing for him or the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 has revealed a few things.
A sketch taken from the listing, which you can see below, shows a 45mm stainless steel case, LTE, GPS, 5 ATM water resistance rating, military grade durability, and Gorilla protection. DX glass.

Beyond that, one thing we heard is that it might not be much different from the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Like this laptop, it can be available in an aluminum and stainless steel version, and in the colors black, silver and gold (with the stainless steel model only available in silver and gold).
That said, another leak indicates that this or the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 is available in a third material, namely titanium. It is more expensive than stainless steel or aluminum, but it is also lightweight and durable.
The leaks also indicate that there are two different screen sizes (probably 40mm and 44mm again), but a larger 330mAh battery on the smaller model (compared to 247mAh on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2). So there's probably a bigger battery in the 44mm model too, but we don't know how much bigger yet. On the Watch Active 2, it's 340 mAh.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 has also been reported to have 8GB of storage, which is double the 4GB of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
That said, it's possible that some of these rumors actually refer to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 2, so we have no idea what to expect.
What we want to see
There are a number of things that we would like Samsung to change, improve and add for the Galaxy Watch Active 3. The next seven are the main ones.
1. An ECG on the first day
The Watch Active 2 has an ECG, but it hasn't been activated yet (Image credit: Future)
Technically, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 already has an ECG (electrocardiogram), but although it was announced at launch, as of this writing, it has not yet been activated.
So while we would expect the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 to have ECG hardware, we also want the software to work from day one.
2. More third-party apps
While no handheld device offers the same kind of app selection that you get on smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is particularly lacking.
This is because Samsung uses Tizen, which has a smaller app offering than Wear OS, which in turn is more limited than watchOS.
We're not sure what Samsung can do about it, but it could probably inspire developers to build apps for the platform, so we'd love to see you give it a go.
3. A rotating bezel or crown
The Samsung Galaxy Watch has a rotating bezel (Image credit: Future)
With the limited space available on smartwatches, a physical rotating bezel or crown can be a great alternative to swiping the screen to navigate the interface, but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 doesn't offer it. .
Of course, there is a digital dial, which is better than nothing, but it still involves interaction with the screen. So for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3, we'd like to see this carried over abroad.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch already has a rotating bezel, so emulating that would be an obvious choice, but a rotating crown could be better - it's a more compact solution and would help differentiate the two devices.
4. More power
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 has an Exynos 9110 chipset which, although not exactly slow, is the same that you will find in both the original Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and the Samsung Galaxy Watch, so the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 will could use a new chipset.
A RAM upgrade wouldn't hurt either, making the Galaxy Watch Active 3 looks like a flagship device that's fast and stylish.
5. More accurate exercise tracking
The Watch Active 2 is great for some exercises, less for others (Image credit: future)
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is packed with exercise tracking features, but not everything is accurately measured. In our review, we found that he struggled with certain exercises, despite having modes for them, with sit-ups for example, they were only recorded when the hand (and therefore also the Watch Active 2) was extended well above the knees.
If an activity cannot be reliably tracked, there is little point in tracking it, so we would like to see this improved for the next model.
6. make it suitable for diving
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 can survive and even track a swim, but it is not suitable for diving, which, while not unusual, limits it slightly in a pool.
So for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3, we'd love to see its water resistance improved so you don't have to take it off before you start. Better yet, we'd love for Samsung to add a specific immersive tracking mode as well.
7. Better battery life
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 has a respectable battery life of two days. That's enough to beat the Apple Watch 5, but it's no match for the Fitbit Versa 2, which is a key rival, so we'd love to be able to get at least another day from the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. 3.
